HFHNFV Goes to the Jimmy&Rosalynn Project in Thailand
HFHNFV led a group of 10 volunteers to the Mekong Build in Thailand. The team consisted of staff, volunteers, funders, a board member and the winner of our lottery for the trip. The team departed on the Nov. 12 and worked the week of 11/16 in temperatures up to 108 to build a 500 sq. foot home for the Chaimongkol family. The community will consist of 82 houses, the number chosen to honor the 82nd birthday of the Thai King. The homes were cement block construction and are linked with clean water and sanitation systems. We built the walls, constructed the roof, spent hours tuck pointing, and installed windows and doors. Everyone pitched in, worked hard and the home was completed per schedule. The family is in the center of the picture below surrounded by the construction team.
