General Work Schedule Information:

In our work schedule, the 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th Saturdays of each month are reserved for our Thrivent Build project.  Other dates are available for corporate build days and volunteer groups by contacting our office        (e-Mail by clicking this link) on (847) 836-1432.

Construction Specifics

Time

Habitat construction sites generally operate from 8:30 am to 4 pm.  Volunteers are asked to arrive at 8:15 for orientation and sign-in!  Please arrive on time and spend the day at the assigned site.

Skill Requirements

No specific skills are required, just a willingness to learn.  Each site has an experienced project director to provide on-the-job training.

Release and Waiver of Liability

Each volunteer must sign a Release and Waiver of Liability agreeing to take personal responsibility for any accident or injury that might occur.

What to Bring  

Volunteers are asked to bring their own tools such as hammer, tape, tool belt or nail apron, utility knife, safety glasses and carpenter’s pencil. Please label your own equipment with your name.

What to Wear

1. Wear clothing and gloves that are appropriate for construction work and, of course, the weather.  Please no shorts as you may be kneeling.  Loose clothing can be dangerous around power tools.

2.  Wear thick soled shoes.

3.  Wear protective glasses.

Each volunteer must read our safety guidelines prior to going to our worksite.  Follow this link and read the guidelines before going to one of our sites.

Tentative Build Schedule

2008 Build Dates Bent and Lincoln are Affiliate homes where Wednesday and Saturday build dates for volunteers are scheduled, other days by request. Memory, Lavoie and Dean are Partnership homes where only Saturday dates are normally scheduled and Partnership churches have priority.  Day for other groups by request. Dean is not yet permitted and dates not assigned.
